An Talla Solais has a variety of studios available for hire on a short or long-term basis to our members. New members can join here.

Whether you are looking for a studio for a few weeks, somewhere to paint for a day when you're on holiday in Ullapool, a room to teach an evening class in or space to start a craft group in, we can probably help. Please contact us for the full list of rates, or to come and see our rooms.

Facilities

The Ceramics Studio is a fully equipped working space with wheels, workbenches, tools and large and small electric kilns. It is available for residencies and as a venue for clay workshops and courses. Please contact us for rates.

The Small Art Room is 4.44 x 3.94m with an additional kitchen area, costing from £10 for an evening to £60 for a week, or £110 for a month. Ideal for small teaching sessions or individual work space.

The Big Art Room is 8.2 x 4.07m with a sink, costing from £15 for an evening to £90 for a week, or £150 for a month.  This is ideal for large teaching groups or spacious solo working, and can double as an exhibition space if needed.

Individual Artists' Studios range in size: we currently have 2 long-term studios, which cost from £80 per month.  We run a waiting list for studios, so please let us know if you'd like to join the list.

PLEASE NOTE there are separate rates for tutors and for funded residencies, and varying rates from evening and day hire to weeks and months: please ask for more details. 

Equipment

Tables and chairs are available for use: please give us advance warning of what you need.  There is access to the ATS kitchen for teas and coffees.  Drawing boards, water pots and palettes are all available for use and in some cases we can offer materials.  However, generally artists should bring their own materials and specialist equipment. 

Artists in Residence

We are very keen to encourage artists who would like to be resident in Ullapool for a period of time, and will try to make space available for this purpose as far as we can.  We are not yet able to fund residencies but we keep our costs as low as possible to encourage visitors.  Do get in touch if you want to talk about this.

Please note that we run bookings on a first come, first served policy, and the room will not always be available: please give us plenty of warning if you’d like specific dates. 

Terms of Use

Users will be asked to abide by ATS’s Conditions of Let, undertaking to take responsibility for the space when they hire it.  Cleaning materials will be available in the room and users are asked to leave it in the clean state in which they find it.
